DNS shifting

The Matt Ryan QuarterBack Database was unavailable for a short time as I shifted DNS settings from one registrar to another. The disruption appears to be fully resolved.

Relaunch!

It’s been a year in the making, but the Matt Ryan Quarterback Database has finally been updated.

What’s new? The site has been re-engineered behind the scenes and re-designed up front. The same information is contained, but this new site is set up to allow easy growth of new features.

What’s next? More stat breakdowns to begin with: How well does Matt Ryan perform on 1st down? How about in the first quarter? Is he better near midfield or in the red zone? (If you have suggestions for stat breakdowns to consider, please use the “ask” link to the left or e-mail feedback@mattryanqbdbcom)

Also planned is an API to let anyone access the data and perform their own analysis.

When new breakdowns and features are added they’ll be added to this Tumblr blog.

Season two stats up-to-date

After a long delay, the Matt Ryan QBDB has been updated to reflect the final games of the season.

Updates will be relatively sparse, but the site may go down for brief periods through the off-season as I work to update and rewrite the site.

See y’all next season!

December update

Matt Ryan missed last week because of his “turf toe” injury, and it looks like he may miss at least one more game (against New Orleans). Since he didn’t play against Philadelphia, that game has been removed from the index — the 34-7 loss shouldn’t count against him since he didn’t play. If he misses the New Orleans game (or any other future games), those will be removed as well.

Week 5 added; troubleshooting

Matt Ryan threw for over 300 yards for the first time this season in Atlanta’s 45-10 win over San Francisco. Ryan’s 90-yard touchdown pass to R. White is the longest of his career.

I’m troubleshooting a problem with the game index. I’ve disabled it for now, but hope to have it back soon.

Update 10/12: The game index page is back. There was an extraneous row in the database that was causing the problem.

Week 3 updates

All of the throws from the first three weeks have been entered. There was an error in the yardage listing for one throw in the Miami game. The error has been fixed so all 229 yards are now reflected.

The Falcons have a bye in week four, during which I plan to optimize some of the back-end code. I hope to keep any disruptions to a minimum, but there may be some periods of down time.

Phase one launched!

Welcome to the Matt Ryan Quarterback Database!

Phase one has just launched with data on every attempted pass by the Falcons quarterback.

There are many improvements planned, including better navigation, interactive charts and more stat breakdowns (by opponent, location, etc.). Updates will be announced on this blog and if you have any questions, comments or suggestions, please send me an e-mail: feedback@mattryanqbdb.com.
